Live as a witness, O Friend!1 min read

Live as a witness, O Friend!
The world is a magic show, a dream,
An illusion resting in the Lord!
The Spring with its garlands of flowers,
Its singing birds, its bleating lambs;
The Autumn with its manifold tints;
The marching armies and their drums,
The sick groaning in distress;
All these are the various guises
Assumed by the divine Magician!
Causation is not finality,
Space melts like mist under the sun.
History is a succession of comedies,
Tragedies and pageantry—
Words, words—no more;
The changing moods of the mind,
The laughing and the weeping
Are but shadows.
Live as a witness, O Friend!
