If you begin your day with a short concentration on any theme related to the spiritual truth, then you will find that you will be guarding yourself against many moral pit-falls and spiritual slips. A concentrated mind is like a horse which you can ride to perfection and to your enjoyment. I give this text for inner concentration, and if you do it you will feel the benefit of it.

  1. I AM A TEMPLE OF GOD. MY STEEPLE PIERCES INTO THE HEAVEN OF PEACE, LIGHT, FREEDOM AND BLISS. MY BASE IS THE EARTH. I RISE TO SUBLIMITY. OM.

It is an affirmation, it needs no intellectual practice. It is not by logic and reasoning that the mind is trained; it is trained by spiritual concentration alone. Please do not apply your logic; take the text as a spiritual truth and let your mind dwell on it, and it will give out the truth contained in the expression. There is nothing higher than that our mind emanates truth, bliss and freedom.

“I AM A TEMPLE OF GOD”. As in a temple there are walls made of stone and clay and also the Holy of Holies, my body and my physiological structure may be made of chemicals, but I am a temple of God; in me is enshrined the Holy of Holies, all perfection and peace.

“MY STEEPLE PIERCES INTO THE HEAVEN OF PEACE, LIGHT, FREEDOM AND BLISS. The expression is subjective, though it is objectively stated: my steeple means my super-intellect. The higher intellect of the mind pierces subjectively into the region of peace, light, freedom and bliss.

“MY BASE IS THE EARTH. I RISE TO SUBLIMITY”. I keep my feet, that is the lower part of my intellect, firmly placed on the earth, but the imperishable element in me rises to sublimity.

It is a complete spiritual thought. It contains an explanation of the real Self of man. It is an excellent exercise. Just as a mind immersed in anger manifests confusion, wrath, want of reason, so the mind immersed in this meditation will manifest peace, light and love, and a greater understanding of the objects within and without.

If you do this every day I am sure you will derive mental peace and mental poise and right judgement.
